January 10th, 2011

The Social Studies Department of the Open University of Sri Lanka launched the Diploma in Youth Development at a function held Saturday (8) at the auditorium of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development in Narahenpita.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dullas Alahapperuma, Vice Chancellor of the OUSL Prof. Upali Vidhanapathirana and Acting Director Youth and Development of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London Mr. Rajkumara Bidala, were present at the occasion.

The course content was relevant for the practical work that the Ministry was carrying out.

Due to the launching of the Youth Parliament the need for right, scientific guidance for the youth workers was felt and the lack of institutional support for the subject had compelled the OUSL to popularize the programme.
