The Commonwealth Youth Games Personal Development Workshops and Just Play Festivals are fun and interactive sessions where athletes and officials will interact and experience what it means to be a Commonwealth athlete, how sport can be used to contribute to society and the rights of young people participating in sport.

Personal Development Workshops

Workshop 1: Developing Commonwealth communities through sport

• Learn about the diversity of the nations and territories that make up the Commonwealth. Discover the values that unite the members of the Commonwealth.

• See first-hand how sport can be used to help improve people’s lives and how young athletes can be advocates for positive change.

Workshop 2: Commonwealth values and the rights of young athletes

Learn more about Commonwealth values and how they apply to you as a Commonwealth athlete.

• Discover new ways to ensure that sport remains fun and enjoyable for you and your team mates, learn how to help keep yourself safe and become a role model in your sport and community!

What: Fun and interactive personal development workshops
Where: Just Play Tent, Tuana’imato Sports Complex near the Boxing/Weightlifting training facilities
When: 7-11 September: Workshop 1 – 1:00pm to 2:00pm, Workshop 2 – 2:15pm to 3:15pm
Who: Commonwealth Youth Games athletes and officials
How: Sign up with your Team Leader

The Commonwealth Youth Games Workshop Programme will be run by the Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace Working Group (CYSDP), a network of young leaders supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Just Play Festivals

Daily throughout the Commonwealth Youth Games

Showcasing the power and potential of sport, the Oceania Football Confederation and UNICEF invite athletes to participate in one of the Just Play festivals alongside local Samoan school children. Just Play, a local sport for development programme is using sport and play to help children in Samoa to grow, learn and explore through sport. We invite all athletes to come and join the fun!

What: Just Play Festival with athletes and local Samoan school children
When: September 7-11
Who: Commonwealth Youth Games athletes
How: Sign up with your Team Leader or at the Just Play Fan Zone in the athletes’ village
