Latest: Forum for Youth on Enterprise

February 21st, 2011

On February 19, hundreds of youth leaders came together at the Pamplemousses Youth Centre for a half day workshop on the theme ‘Entrepreneurship Perspectives and Challenges’.

The minister of Youth and Sports sent a message saying that the future lies in entrepreneurship.

The goal of the workshop was to inculcate the basic concepts of entrepreneurship in young people. The participants got useful information on services as well as facilities provided by different institutions that are active in the sector.

Moreover, they got a platform to express and share ideas on the issue of entrepreneurship.

This was an initiative of Jeunes Entreprises, a project resulting from a Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2009 between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD).

Jeunes Entreprises allows participants to gain an insight of the business world and bag opportunities through the development of an enterprise on a small scale project within a training institution.

The participants were supervised by trainers of MITD and youth officers of the ministry of sports.

They received training on various aspects of business such as feasibility studies, accounting and management.

A second workshop will be held on February 26 at Pointe Jérôme Youth Training centre.
