"Everyone has to take responsibility"

Abhay Joshi picIndia recently elected a majority government that promised sustainable development, but Abhay Joshi, 19, a Correspondent from India, says that every individual has to be a part of the development process.

India is a land of varied culture and has a multi-lingual, multi-religion and varied heritage which sets it a class apart from other countries in the world.

The political system of India is pretty comprehensive and recently elected its 15th Prime Minister, Mr.Narendra Modi, who won with a thumping majority.

Election time in the country is like a festival. Having closely followed the General Elections, one can always say that this one was different from the rest. Any country is defined by its people. People make their choices and are represented by the elected representatives. But are the promises of the people delivered?

Today, the people of the country don’t need anything except a sense of social security. One should feel safe. One should feel composed. One should believe that it is his own motherland and he has every right to make a difference. But where are the people of the country headed?

Every person criticises the establishment – the government – for all that they face. Every single misdoing in their life is attributed to the actions taken up by the government. We all want our rights, but do we fulfil our fundamental duties?

In this election, a stable government was elected to power. It came in through several innovative campaigns taken up, which instilled in our mind that the path for development has been carved through meticulous planning. But we tend to forget that every one of us has to be a part of the development process.

After completing 30 days in his office, the Prime Minister has said that he feels that he is in control of the current situation. We have to realise that the country needs its people today. Every one of us has to take responsibility for our individual existence or everything will go in vain.

A country is successful by the thoughts and action of its people. Today, what are the people thinking about?

Let’s hope for a future which promises sustainable development for all of us. Because our future is not what we inherit from our forefathers, but what we borrow from our children.
